On the occasion of Nvidia’s President, CEO - Jensen Huang’s visit to Vietnam, FPT Corporation (FPT) Chairman Truong Gia Binh aspired to partner with Nvidia to transform Vietnam into a digital hub, drawing global AI and semiconductor talents. This endeavor aims to foster the country's Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystems, support startups, and facilitate supercomputer development, thereby strengthening Vietnam's position in the global supply chain.
Vietnam PM Pham Minh Chinh and other Vietnamese government delegates and business representatives met with Nvidia's President and CEO Jensen Huang.
The statement was delivered at the Semiconductor and AI conference on December 11 in Hanoi, with the participation of Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dzung, and other Vietnamese representative businesses. At the panel discussion, FPT Chairman emphasized AI and chipmaking as crucial factors for Vietnam to catch up with other developed countries and engage further in the global supply chain.
As a leading corporation in Vietnam, FPT considers semiconductor and AI pivotal areas for the country's growth. The company has been advancing these domains through investments, research initiatives, platform and solution developments, collaborations with leading global organizations, and workforce training, which were announced during US President Joe Biden’s recent state visit to Vietnam.
FPT established its semiconductor subsidiary in 2022 to address this sector's rising demand. In less than a year, its semiconductor power management integrated circuits (PMICs) have completed the development phase and proceeded with mass production, with orders secured for 70 million chips, scheduled for fulfillment by 2025. It also actively fosters workforce development through the recent partnership with Silvaco, Vietnam National Center, and the American technology expert organization TreSemi. The initiative is also supported by the newly-introduced Semiconductor Circuit Faculty at FPT University, which will provide training for undergraduate, college, and postgraduate students starting in 2024.
AI also holds a prominent position in FPT’s strategic agenda, with several investments made recently, including joining the AI Alliance with IBM and Meta as co-founding members, establishing research strategies with the world's leading AI research institute Mila, becoming a major investor in the US' leading computer vision platform and AI software company Landing AI, and partnering with Silicon Valley's AITOMATIC. These strategic moves are parts of FPT's ongoing effort to accelerate responsible and sustainable AI development.
