LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, and FPT Corporation, a global IT services provider, recently formalised a strategic partnership aimed at addressing the evolving skills needs in the country's rapidly growing tech sector. In a signing ceremony held on 2 July, FPT formalized its acquisition of LinkedIn Learning, which will provide 33,000 employees working in its global IT services with full access to the platform over the next three years.
This initiative represents LinkedIn's largest Learning deployment in Vietnam to date and highlights FPT’s significant investment in its workforce as the tech industry undergoes rapid transformation accelerated by AI. The comprehensive skills development program will help FPT employees stay relevant, become more productive, and deliver higher quality services to clients worldwide.
"In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, continuous learning and upskilling are no longer optional — they're essential for both individual career growth and organisational success," said Atul Harkisanka, LinkedIn's Head of Emerging Markets. "Through this partnership with FPT, we're empowering a future-ready workforce with the skills they need to thrive in an AI-driven economy. With nearly 25 thousand courses across business, creative and technical categories, LinkedIn Learning can help organisations evolve and adapt to the ever-changing demands of the workforce. This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to creating economic opportunity and reflects FPT's forward-thinking approach to workforce development in the region."
Building a Future-Ready Tech Workforce Through Digital Skills
With over 1 billion members globally, including more than 343 million members in APAC, LinkedIn has a unique view into how work is changing at an unprecedented pace. Skills requirements across industries are transforming rapidly, particularly in the technology sector, where AI adoption is accelerating the pace of change. According to LinkedIn data, 57% of workers in Southeast Asia will see their jobs change due to Generative AI, even if they are not changing jobs. In Vietnam specifically, approximately 32% of jobs could be disrupted by Generative AI, while 24% could be augmented.
The three-year program will focus heavily on critical digital skills, with specialised learning paths in high-demand areas such as cybersecurity and AI. By providing comprehensive access to LinkedIn Learning's vast library of courses, FPT employees will be able to develop expertise in these areas as well as cloud computing, data analytics, and other technical domains. Additionally, the platform offers extensive content on essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership — capabilities that remain crucial even as demand for technical skills accelerate. According to LinkedIn data, these soft skills are particularly in demand in Vietnam, with communication ranking first as the most in-demand skill, followed by problem solving, teamwork, and analytical and project management skills.1
"At FPT, our people are our greatest assets, and investing in their growth is the most powerful way to future-proof the organization. To cultivate a future-ready workforce, we ensure a combination of cutting-edge training, global collaboration, and strategic partnerships. By introducing LinkedIn Learning to our workforce worldwide, we’re providing access to world-class resources and tailored learning pathways that enable them to thrive. In an era defined by the transformative power of AI, initiatives like this are essential to helping our people upskill with confidence, stay relevant, and compete on a global scale," said Prajith Nair, FPT Software Vice President and Head of Learning and Innovation, FPT Corporation.
Setting a New Standard for Professional Development in Vietnam's Tech Sector
This first-of-its-kind partnership represents one of the most significant corporate learning initiatives in Vietnam's IT sector. By investing in comprehensive skills development for its entire workforce in the IT services industry, FPT demonstrates its forward-thinking approach to talent development and strengthens its competitive position in the global IT services market.
The skills gained through this partnership will enable FPT employees to navigate the changing technology landscape with confidence, helping the company maintain its position at the forefront of the worlds digital transformation journey.
