The center is designed to integrate FPT’s existing data and AI capabilities while equipping project teams with the expertise to elevate their service deployment and address the increasing demand in Japan’s multi-billion-dollar technology sector.

FPT is dedicated to developing AI solutions and services, tailored to meet the specific demands of the Japanese market. By leveraging its expertise in software development and a vast partner network, the firm is steadily advancing toward its $1 billion revenue target for this market by 2027.

"The establishment of this center is a strategic step toward realizing our vision of creating a robust AI ecosystem in Japan, leveraging our deep research and development capabilities and longstanding partnerships with leading organizations in the industry," stated Dao Thanh Binh, CEO of FPT Data & AI Integration, FPT Corporation.

In November, FPT unveiled its  AI Factory in Japan and an AI partner ecosystem with global technology leaders, including Nvidia, SCSK, Asus, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, VAST Data, and DDN Storage to develop and operate these factories, driving the progress of sovereign AI in both countries.

In early 2025, FPT plans to provide cloud computing services based on the latest Nvidia H200 GPUs to accelerate the development and application of generative AI models, driving the adoption of generative AI. This service will contribute to technological advancements while addressing challenges such as Japan’s aging population and the demand for digital transformation across several industries.

Japan’s AI system market is projected to reach $7.3 billion by 2027, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, but a looming shortage of 789,000 IT professionals by 2030, as forecasted by METI, underscores a critical gap. This growing demand for AI solutions presents significant opportunities for Vietnamese IT companies like FPT. FPT plans to address this by recruiting hundreds of AI experts and thousands of IT engineers in other tech fields as part of its strategy to expand its presence in Japan.

After nearly two decades in Japan, FPT has become one of the largest foreign-invested technology firms in the country by human resource capacity. The company boasts 3,500 employees across 17 local offices and innovation hubs, as well as 15,000 global employees dedicated to the Japanese market, providing services and solutions to over 450 customers worldwide. It is also recognized for excellent employee benefits and workplace happiness, including Best Workplaces in Asia, Best Places To Work in Japan, and Best Places To Work for Women in Japan.
