Vietnam’s Digital Transformation Alliance inaugurated last Thursday in Hanoi as part of the ICT Summit 2019. Initiated by Vietnam’s Software & IT services Association (VINASA), the Alliance was established to accelerate the adoption of digital transformation in Vietnam, alongside joint efforts of the Government, ministries, organizations and enterprises.
Founding members include FPT, Viettel, CMC, VNG, and MobiFone, the largest ICT companies in Vietnam “with a mission to inspire in the entire society to digital transformation”, according to the VINASA. They have also proactively adopted digital transformation as well as created platforms, infrastructure and services to help businesses and the society to transform themselves digitally.
As per the Draft National Digital Transformation Plan, Vietnam sets to become a Top 4 ASEAN country in digitalization and the world’s Top 40 in competitiveness by 2025. The Government also aims to develop at least 80 tech firms and make Vietnam one of the world’s largest electronics and telecommunications producers and software exporters.
Addressing the ICT Summit 2019, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stressed the impact of digital transformation to the society as a whole. “Digital transformation, after all, is the applications of IT to create added value for businesses, organisations, and every citizen.”
