The MOU signing ceremony between FPT and NARMA took place in Seoul, South Korea

FPT Corporation (FPT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NARMA Inc. (NARMA), a technology spin-off from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), renowned for its long-range electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) platforms. The agreement aims to accelerate the research, development, and commercialization of next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), expanding the supply chain across both countries.

Under this partnership, FPT will leverage its AI and software development expertise to engineer autonomous flight software, related AI-driven systems, and Detect and Avoid (DAA) capabilities. These advancements will enhance the safety and autonomy of NARMA’s drone platforms, notably its flagship AF100 model—the world’s first electric dual tilt-rotor VTOL drone. FPT and NARMA will also explore cross-border opportunities to develop and strengthen the drone supply chain across Vietnam and South Korea, including localization of components and joint manufacturing to serve both markets.

Nguyen Van Khoa, FPT Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the low-altitude economy with civil drones, aerial logistics, and eVTOL platforms, remains a strategic future direction. Recognizing this potential, FPT initiated the Vietnam Low-Altitude Economy Alliance (LAEP) to connect the businesses within this sector and build a comprehensive UAV ecosystem for the country. “This synergy holds significant meaning for both FPT and LAEP. By combining NARMA's expertise in hardware and aerodynamics with FPT’s leadership in AI and software development, we will co-create smart, autonomous UAV solutions that serve national needs and drive regional market expansion. FPT and NARMA Inc. stand together as trusted partners, and we look forward to translating our commitments into tangible results”, he noted.

Kwon Ki-jung, Chief Executive Officer of NARMA, highlighted that NARMA is among 1.3% drone companies in South Korea that are capable of manufacturing drones and components, earning the government's trust for its advanced technologies. He further remarked that Vietnam demonstrates strong commitment to national tech sovereignty, and that collaboration in the UAV sector should extend beyond commercialization to technology transfer and capability building. “FPT clearly understands the future of drones associated with eVTOL technology, and NARMA is ready to advance this partnership,” he added.

These collaborations unfold as both nations actively invest in their UAV ecosystems. Vietnam identifies UAVs as a strategic technology, with the government advocating for R&D investment to master core innovations and integrate into the global value chain. Simultaneously, South Korea aims to enhance drone capabilities across firefighting, aviation, agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure inspection while commercializing AI-integrated drones.
